Question

A flower garden has 3 times as many red roses than pink roses. Twice the number of red roses is the same as four times the number of pink roses increased by 10, how many red roses are there/

I know that X = red roses and Y = pink rose
1. x=3y and 2x=4y+10

How do i solve it?

well, since x = 3y, use that to get
2(3y) = 4y+10
6y = 4y+10
2y = 10
y=5
so, x=3y=15
