shouldn't be a problem. Just find the Least Common Multiple. For example
LCM(3,2) = 6, so Al2O3
LCM(3,2) = 6, so Al2O3

in my example, Al3+ has a charge of +3
O2- has a charge of -2
So, you need to have as many + charges as you have - charges
Try various combinations
AlO: +3-2 = +1
Al2O: +3*2 - 2 = 6-2 = 4
AlO2: +3-2*2 = 3-4 = -1
Al2O3: +3(2)-2(3) = 6-6 = 0 <---
