The sum of 4 consecutive integers is t. In terms of t, find the smallest of the four integers

Answers

Answered by Henry2,
x + ( x+1) + (x+2) + (x+3) = t.
4x + 6 = t,
4x = t-6,
X = (t-6)/4.

you have an arithmetic progression with
a = x
d = 1
n = 4
so, using your sum formula,
4/2 (2x + 3) = t
x = (t-6)/4
