    Well, sorry for butting in but I just want to make a statement that may help us all. I was searching Jiskha for ideas and on particluar post caught my attention.
it was made in 2015 it reads :Bella spent 4/7 of her money on a dictionary and 3 identical books. She spent 1/6 of the remainder on a journal that cost $7. How much did she spend on the dictionary and 3 books?
If 3/8 of the cost of the dictionary was the same as 1/2 of the total cost of 3 books, how much did each book cost?
I've got $56 on the first question, but I'm having a hard time trying to solve the second one."

    1.  Bella has $X.
X - 4x/7 = 3x/7 remaining.
1/6 * 3x/7 = $7.
3x/21 = 7,
3x = 147,
X = 49.
4x/7 = 4/7 * 49 = $28 = cost of dictionary and 3 books.
2. Cost of dictionary = $D.
Cost of 3 books = $B.
3D/8 = B/2, Solve for D:
Eq1: D = 4B/3.
Eq2: D + B = 28.
In Eq2, replace D with 4B/3:
4B/3 + B = 28.
4B + 3B = 84,
B = $12. = Cost of 3 books.
12/3 = $4. = cost of each book.
