The famous social reformer Frederick Douglass was born in 1818 and took her home Marilyn. He was mostly raised by his grandmother. Douglas was born a slave and remain so until 1838 when he escaped slavery by borrowing the pavers of free slaves and moved to New York. Just a few years before and 1836 he was hired out and awards in the shipyard in Baltimore. He joined the east about more improvement society there in 1837.
