so
24 = a+10b
36 = a+14b
subtract and you get
4b = 12
b = 3
now you can find a, and then answer the question.

It's variation.. Then when you are done with the first part... You will have to do simultaneous equation to get the answer ans subtract and substitute in the second part to get x and subtract and you are done
