Answers
2x+3y = 12
2x = 12-3y
x = (12-3y)/2
2x = 12-3y
x = (12-3y)/2
keep the term you are solving for on one side:
2x+3y=12
2x = 12 - 3y
divide both sides by 2 to get x alone
2x/2 = (12-3y)/2
x = (12 - 3y)/2 or 6 - 3y/2 or 6 - 1/5y , which ever way you want it.
