At a sale, all clothing was marked down 15%. Beth bought a blouse originally priced at $10.95 and a scarf for $8.85. What was the amount discounted on her purchase?

Am I supposed to assume that the $8.85 was already after the discount?

I would assume that 8.85 was the original price. But that is worded ambiguously. Check with your teacher.
