Is there a formula for finding the midpoint between two endpoints?

yes - the midpoint is the average of the two endpoints.
For example, if the ends are (2,3) and (7,-5) the midpoint is
((2+7)/2,(3+(-5))/2) = (9/2,-1)
In general
((x1+x2)/2,(y1+y2)/2)
