cos(a-b) = cosa cosb + sina sinb , and
cos(a+b) = cosa cosb - sina sinb
----------------------------------------- , let's subtract them
cos(a-b) - cos(a+b) = 2sina sinb
(1/2)( cos(a-b) + cos(a+b) = sina sinb , as required
