how has christianity teachings of one text (the Bible), divided into so many denominations?

I am not so certain the text did it. Social and cultural conflicts, as well as power greed, probably had much more to do with it than the intrepretations of the text.
I remember well the divisions in North Ireland, in which Catholics and Protestants were fiercly divided, but the issue mainly was cultural and geopolitical, not religious.
