I will assume that your terms are
(7/2)x + (1/2)x .....
then I would multiply each term by 14, the LCD, and all your fractions would disappear.
After that you should have no problems
if your equation is
7/(2x) + ....
then you would end up with a quadratic.
No point going into that if that is not the case.
