An earlier advancement the Nubians had made was water-bucket irrigation. The Nubians saw food production through irrigation and controlled flooding. They built pyramids and burial mounts using the same technologies that the Egyptians used like wenches, pulleys, and lifts. The Nubians took part in the very early beginning of blast furnaces and iron working. Another advancement in technology was an animal-driven water wheel. The Nubians used this to make the productivity of milling grain go up. They also developed silos to store the grain and also ovens for baking. The Nubians had also designed and built chariots. They used the chariots in warfare. They also used advanced metal working. The Nubians also developed a tool called a saqia. A saqia was a wooden wheel equipped with pots to bring in water from the Nile river.
