Question
I have to find the probability of this event. heads on a coin and 5 on a 6 sided number cube, on one toss of a coin, and one roll of a number cube. Do I multiply the numbers 1/2 and 1/6, or add them? Thanks.

You would multiply them to show the number of different combonations you can get for this event, but it would also show the probabilty.

Generally, if the two events are mutually exclusive,
that is, one event has no effect on the outcome of the other,
then if you want the Prob(eventA AND eventB) you multiply them
if you want Prob(eventA OR eventB) you add them
so probability of 5 and heads would be 1/12
but
the probability of a 5 or heads would be
1/2 + 1/6 = 2/3

reiny could you answer my chemistry lab question possibly?

Sorry Redfire, the only thing I know about chemistry is that if I toss an Alka Selzer into a 7-Up bottle it causes quite a mess.

lol that is fine
