Nope, time works here:
hf=hi+vi*t-1/2 *(9.8)t^2
but hf=hi
t(vi-4.9t)=0
t=vi/4.9
hf=hi+vi*t-1/2 *(9.8)t^2
but hf=hi
t(vi-4.9t)=0
t=vi/4.9
