since they both say y = ...
x^3 - 4x= -x - 2
x^3 - 3x + 2 = 0
by inspection x = 1 is a solution
are there others?
Use your favourite method to find the other factor, I got
x^3 - 3x + 2 = (x-1)(x^2 + x - 2) = 0
(x-1)(x+2)(x-1) = 0
if x = 1, y = ...
if x = -2, y = ....
x^3 - 4x= -x - 2
x^3 - 3x + 2 = 0
