Both Eleanor and Louis were to closely related for the church to tolerate

King Louis was more connected to the church as he couldn't bear being excommunicated and killing so many people therefore he fell into a spiritual crisis. However Eleanor was not as connected to the church as when she found out that her husband was excommunicated she found it normal as both of father and grandfather was and they ignored it.

Okay, now, divide all that so you have five coherent sentences. Some rephrasing will be needed, as well as transitional words or phrases.
