The definition of "labor force" is: all the members of a particular organization or population who are able to work
A. an eighth grader can have a paper route, but they are normally not paid, it's part of their volunteer training.
B. by retired, that may mean that the person is no longer working, so that's not the answer.
C. Maybe, a full-time college student could work in the cafeteria in order to pay its college.
D. Maybe, if the auto-mechanic works in an organization

Self-employed also counts as a member of the labor force. He/she may own his/her own business.

Even though a bit late, just want to comment on Reed's statement. A college student can be employed part time, just not for what they're studying until they have their degree.
