21/24 = 10.5/x
well 10.5 is half of 21
and we all know 12 is half of 24
so
10.5/12
well 10.5 is half of 21
and we all know 12 is half of 24
so
10.5/12

Now maybe you need to do this a more official way to really get it
21/24 = 10.5/x
we want to get the 24 and the x out of the bottom
so
multiply both sides by 24 x
24 x (21/24) = 24 x (10.5/x)
21 x = 24 * 10.5
x = 24 * (10.5/21)
x = 24 * (.5)
x = 12
21/24 = 10.5/x
we want to get the 24 and the x out of the bottom
so
multiply both sides by 24 x
24 x (21/24) = 24 x (10.5/x)
21 x = 24 * 10.5
x = 24 * (10.5/21)
x = 24 * (.5)
x = 12
