Half distance = 50 km
The first half:
50 km / 40 km/h = 1.25 h
The second half:
50 km / 80 km/h = 0.625 h
Total time of the travel = 1.25 h + 0.625 h = 1.875 h
average speed = 100 km / 1.875 h = 53.333 km / h
The first half:
50 km / 40 km/h = 1.25 h
The second half:
50 km / 80 km/h = 0.625 h
Total time of the travel = 1.25 h + 0.625 h = 1.875 h
average speed = 100 km / 1.875 h = 53.333 km / h
