Question
Write equations for the dissociation of the following in water. Do not include states in your answer.
1) sodium acetate (NaC2H3O2)
NaC2H3O2 ---> Na+ + (C2H3O2)-
2) copper(II) perchlorate
Cu(ClO4)2 ---> Cu2+ + 2(ClO4)-
Enter balanced ionic and net ionic equations for these reactions.
Include states in your answer.
1) AgC2H3O2(aq) + NiCl2(aq)--> AgCl(s) + Ni(C2H3O2)2(aq)
ionic equation:
2Ag+(aq) + 2(C2H3O2)-(aq) + Ni+(aq) + 2Cl-(aq) ---> 2AgCl(s) + Ni+(aq) + 2(C2H3O2)-(aq)
Net ionic equation
2Ag+(aq) + 2Cl-(aq) ---> 2AgCl(s)
For this i get the net ionic equation right but not the ionic equation
1) FeSO4(aq) + Na3PO4(aq) ---> Fe3(PO4)2(s) + Na2SO4(aq)
Ionic equation is
3Fe+2(aq) + 3SO-4(aq) + 6Na+(aq) + 2PO3-4(aq) ---> Fe3(PO4)2(s) + 6Na+(aq) + 3SO-4(aq)
2)CuCl2(aq) + NaOH(aq) ---> Cu(OH)2(s) + NaCl(aq)
Ionic equation is
Cu+2(aq) + 2Cl-(aq) + 2Na+(aq) +2OH-(aq) ---> Cu(OH)2(s) + 2Na+(aq) + 2Cl-(aq)

For 1 the ionic equation is ok but you need a 2 for AgC2HO2 and a 2 for AgCl to balanced the molecular equation.
3Fe+2(aq) + 3SO-4(aq) + 6Na+(aq) + 2PO3-4(aq) ---> Fe3(PO4)2(s) + 6Na+(aq) + 3SO-4(aq)
3SO-4 should be 3[000SO4]^2-
2PO3-4 should be 2[PO4]^3-
The CuCl2 equation looks ok to me. The net ionic equation is
Cu^2+(aq) + 2[OH]^-(aq) ==> Cu(OH)^2(s)
3Fe+2(aq) + 3SO-4(aq) + 6Na+(aq) + 2PO3-4(aq) ---> Fe3(PO4)2(s) + 6Na+(aq) + 3SO-4(aq)
3SO-4 should be 3[000SO4]^2-
2PO3-4 should be 2[PO4]^3-
The CuCl2 equation looks ok to me. The net ionic equation is
Cu^2+(aq) + 2[OH]^-(aq) ==> Cu(OH)^2(s)
