Apparently, none of the tutors here have read this story. Supposedly you have, and I would guess Tasha tells, somewhere in the story, what has ruined her summer. Try reading it for yourself.

Hello! I love this book! I am 2 years late for this but here I go!
Tasha was given the responsibility of taking care of her younger brother when she wanted to spend the summer carefree while practicing for a double dutch contest (I'm pretty sure they called it double dutch). Of course, she is not fond of this, and she says that her summer is ruined.
Hope this helps a little. Also, if you read the book, the answer would literally be in front of your face.
