Which of the following pairs would make a good buffer?

A. H2C2O4 and HC2O4-
B. HNO3 and NO3-
C. NaOH and NaCl
D. HCl and NaOH

Would it be C? I think I remember learning about these in a lesson about buffers, hence why my instinct is to go with C...

C is not right. A buffer consists of EITHER:
a. a weak acid with a salt of that weak acid OR
b. a weak base with a salt of that weak base.

C is a STRONG base and its salt.
B is a strong acid
D is a strong acid.
