Tom keeps all of his favorite marbles in a special leather bag. Right now, five red marbles, four blue marbles, and yellow marbles are in the bag.
If he randomly chooses one marble to give to a friend what is the probability that it is blue ?

Hey fellow student! The total number of marbles is 12. Because:
5 red marbles + 4 blue marbles + 3 yellow marbles = 12 total marbles
And there are 4 BLUE marbles in his special leather bag . . .
So the probability of a blue marble would be 4/12. The reason why is because there are 4 TOTAL blue marbles and there are 12 TOTAL marbles.
Hope this helps!
