right now:
number of girls ---- x
number of boys --- x+15
after increase:
girls ---- 1.15x
boys ---- 1.2(x+15)
boys - girls = 29
1.2(x+15) - 1.15x = 29
1.2x + 18 - 1.15x = 29
.005x = 11
x = 220
there are 220 girls and 235 boys or a total of 455 students
check:
1.2(235) = 282
1.15(220) = 253 , which is a difference of 29
