hence,find the present ages of father and son

f+2 = 6(s+2)
f-3 = 5(s+2)

either solve simultaneously, or note that

(f+2)/6 = (f-3)/5
Solve for f, and then get s.

Kind of a sloppy problem, using s+2 twice.
