A store gets a bucket of eggs for $16.20 and sells a dozen eggs for $3.50. If there are 450 eggs in the bucket, by what percent has the store increased the price per dozen eggs?

number of dozen in the bucket = 450/12 = 37.5

so cost price per dozen = 16.20/37.5 = .432
So they bought them at $ 0.432 per dozen
and sold them at $3.50 per dozen

percentage increase = 3.5/.432 - 1 = 7.102
or 710%

3.5/.432 = 8.102
so the new price is 810% of the old one, but the increase is 710%

e.g. suppose the cost of a coat went from $100 to $120
