What is compound family

I don't know. "Compound family" is a term I'm not familiar with.

There are "family compounds" where an extended family (several generations, siblings, etc.) live in houses on the same piece of land, like a private neighborhood.

Could it mean what we call a blended family, in which the parents each have children from previous relationships, plus children they have created together?
