72:465 & x:465 is what I started with but I can not get the correct answer.

72% of 465 = 334.8

Since I've never seen 8/10 of a child -- I suspect that you've made a mistake in posting this question.

I shorten the question, but the word problem is stated exactly as this - the shaded area of the chart represents the number of Acme employees who bring their children to day-care centers before work.if there are 465 employees at Acme, how many do not bring their children to day-care centers before coming to work.
The shaded area is 72%
