hey! okay so i have to write a short story for english, but it has to be based on a historical or current event, and i don't know what to do! i tried to do something about hurricane katrina, but i was getting no where with that. so i gave up on it. haha. so if anyone has any ideas, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEE help! it would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much! :)

What has happened recently in the area near you? If you live in the Katrina area, then use that as the background of your story. Think of an item that is important in your life and have the character lose it in the storm. Then you can decide how you want to end the story.
OR, what happened near you of historical importance? Could something about that event be "found" in a strange or interesting way? How might that thing influence history?
Sit down and do some "jotting"; see what your imagination comes up with.
