Yes, there many reasons why people want Trump and vote for him. "Man on the street" interviews indicate that some people like him because he wants to keep aliens out of the country, especially Mexicans and Muslims. Others think he might be a strong leader and turn back the clock to an earlier time when people felt more secure and comfortable in their ideas of what the United States is and our "values". There are MANY ideas.

He has appeal primarily because he is a celebrity and has promoted himself and his name for about 30 years, with his name on many products, buildings, etc., and as a "reality" TV star -- as someone rich and successful and famous.

As for refugees from the Middle East, all refugees are screened at least three times (by different agencies) before being admitted to the U.S. Republican candidates, including Mr. Trump, say the screening process either does not exist or is inadequate.
