In the U.S. today we see conflicts within political parties. They are each polarized around the presidential candidates. Social issues such as abortion and gay marriage and religion have generated conflicts. Liberal spending is another major issue.

A major problem is defining themselves to voters. Are their ideologies pure or more compromising. Are they conservative or liberal, and how are those terms defined? Are they for peace or war? Are they for "family values" (and what are those values)? Are they for spending public money (taxes) on defense or domestic projects, such as roads, bridges, railroads, water and sewer, etc.? Which party is for and against what? Why may be of less importance to most voters, but the what is important.
