what's to explain? If you happen to want some values of x where the equation is true, then
cosx-1 = -1/3
cosx = 2/3
The solutions will be in QI and QIV. cos(1.23) ≈ 1/3, so all solutions will be of the form
2πk ± 1.23
where k is any integer.
