OH NO, you cannot add unlike terms
x^2 - 8x + 16
=(x-4)(x-4)
check it by expanding
BTW, you did not have an "equation".
did you have x^2 - 8x + 16 = 0 ?
then (x-4)(x-4)=0
x = -4
