Suppose that for an organism, 2N = 8. How many chromosomes do the organism's gametes contain?

Would it be 8?

No it would contain4. It would contain 4 chromosomes. 2n means its a diploid cell which contains 8 chromosomes. Gamates are haploid cells therefore contain of a diploid.
