I was wondering if it wants to know what the country was like in the stories or in the country in general.

I think the question is quite clear. What was going on in the country during those 40 years? Do the stories tell about that? Do they reflect the reality of that time as you understand it?

I chose to go with the first prompt: regionalism is a form of realism that emphasizes realistic settings using a local dialect customs and other specific details of a place. Identify the regional stories in unit four. What part of the country is pretrade in which details in the story distinguish it from other regions in America?
My answer: I have a learned that in this time. Things were not all that perfect. There was war, and discrimination and much more. The writers of this time seem to take real life and make it into stories but keeping the pots realistic. It really reflected the issues that were going on but in someway made them a little later.
How does that sound?

Why are these separated?
"I have a learned that in this time. Things were not all that perfect."
And what time is "this time"? Be specific.
Delete the first "and" --
"war, and discrimination and much more."
Be specific. What do you mean by "much more."
"The writers of this time..." Again, what is "this time"?
"pots" = ??
"It" = ??
"in someway" -- what?
You are writing in generalities. You need to include specifics.
