a uniform beam 6.0 metre long and weighing 4kg rests on support at p and q placed left and right 1.0 metres from each end of the beam weights of mass 10 kg and 8kg are placed near p and q respectively one each end of the beam.calculate the reaction at p and q?

p and q are 4.0 m apart

moments around q
4 p = (10 * 5) + (4 * 2) - (8 * 1)
p = 12.5
Rp = 12.5 g

moments around p
4 q = (8 * 5) * (4 * 2) - (10 * 1)
q = 9.5
Rq = 9.5 g

After sketching the diagram.
P+Q=220 N (Newton)
Taking moment about point P
40*2 + 80*5 = 4Q +100*1
80 + 400 = 4Q + 100
480 - 100 = 4Q
380 = 4Q
Q = 380/4
Q = 95 N
P + Q = 220 N
P +95 = 220
P = 220 - 95 = 125 N
P =125 N
