Would it be esta?

This sentence in english is:

Paco ______ from Madrid

Es and Esta both mean is but in a different context. Spanish is very complicated, and I being a Spanish speaker still get stuck with many words. It sounds better with Paco __es__ de Madrid. It would be honestly hard to explain but I'll try my best.

It would sound better for "esta" to say "Paco está en Madrid".

If anyone can explain this better, I would appreciate it. I feel like a fool, knowing what the answer is but not knowing how to explain it :S

Huge sorry if you wanted an explanation. I'll try to find one.
