make a sketch

let the original square be 4x by 4x, (avoiding fractions)

after 1 fold: 4x by 2x
after 2 folds: 4x by x

perimeter = 2(4x+x) = 20
5x = 10
x = 2

original square was 8 by 8
and original perimeter was 4(8) = 32
