A line has a slope of
1/2 and passes through the point (0,5). What is the equation of the line?
A) y = 1/2x + 5
B) y = 1/2x - 5
C) y = 5x + 1/2
D) y = -5x + 1/2
How do i figure this out?
is it D?

y = (1/2) x + b
5 = (1/2) 0 + b
b = 5
so
y = (1/2) x + 5
which I guess you mean for A)
but what you typed was
y = 2/(2x) + 5
5 = (1/2) 0 + b
b = 5
so
y = (1/2) x + 5
which I guess you mean for A)
but what you typed was
y = 2/(2x) + 5

y= mx + b
(1/2) is the slope.
m in the equation is the slope
(0,5)
x= 0
y or b= 0
y=1/2x + 5
(1/2) is the slope.
m in the equation is the slope
(0,5)
x= 0
y or b= 0
y=1/2x + 5
