A college football coach wants to know if the is a correlation between his players' leg strength and the time it takes for them to sprint 40 yards. he sets up the following test and records the data:
Every day for a week, he counts how many times each player can leg press 350 pounds. The following week, he has each player sprint 40 yards every day. The tables shows the average number of leg-press repetitions and the average 40-yard dash time (in seconds) for seven randomly selected players. What is the equation of the line of best fit? How many seconds should he expect a player to take to run 40 yards if that player can do 22 leg-press repetitions?
Leg Press (reps)|40-yard Dash (s)
15 |5.2
18 |6.3
8 |6.8
30 |8.2
26 |8.0
12 |5.3
21 |5.9

The exact equation is y = 4.536 + 0.107 Try that with all of the x values and you should get the y values listed next to the x values. Now we have to find how many seconds a player will take to run 40 yards if they can do 22 leg presses.
y = 4.536 + 0.107 * 22
0.107 * 22 = 2.354
y = 4.536 + 2.354
y = 6.89
Now to round to the nearest tenth and you should get 6.9
Good Luck!
y = 4.536 + 0.107 * 22
0.107 * 22 = 2.354
y = 4.536 + 2.354
y = 6.89
Now to round to the nearest tenth and you should get 6.9
Good Luck!

The correct answer is the equation of the line of best fit is y=0.11x+4.54, and it would take the player 6.96 seconds to run.
Explanation:
Using technology, we calculate the line of best fit; we first enter the data points as a scatter plot, then run the regression tool, which gives us y=ax+b, where a=0.11 and b=4.54.
We now use this equation, y=0.11x+4.54, to calculate the amount of time it would take a player to run 40 yards if the player can do 22 leg-press reps:
y=0.11(22)+4.54=6.96.

i know that they change around the questions... so, i wrote down the question and answer just in case. i really hope this helps anyone!! :)
there are some questions that i was told by my teacher that had different options from what is listed. meaning that some people have completely different answers than others on some questions. im not 100% sure if everyone's is like this, but if yours is ill write those down on the bottom.
now the answers...
1. for the data in the table, does y vary directly with x? if it does, write an equation for the direct variation
x y
8 13
16 26
24 39
a- yes;y=1.625x
2. for the data in the table, does y vary directly with x? if it does, write an equation for the direct variation
x y
32 24
16 8
8 6
a- no; y does not vary directly with x
3. the grade a student earns on a test varies directly with the amount of time the student spends studying, suppose a student spends 6.5 hrs studying and makes a grade of 84% on the test. what is an equation that relates the grade earned on a test, g, with the amount of time spent studying, t, in hrs? what is the graph of your equation?
(the graphs are a little harder to explain, hope you get what im trying to say)
a- the graph ends on (6, 70) its pointed more up than the others
4. match the equation with its graph
y= 3/4x - 2
a- its the only line that passes through the bottom-right coordinate block
5. match the equation with its graph
-2x + 7y = 14
a- the left part of the line only goes a tinny-bit into the bottom-left coordinate block.
6. express the relationship between distances and the time in simplified form as a unit rate. determine which statement correctly interprets this relationship.
a- mine was 58/1 but i did see some other people that had 46/1
7. find the slope of the line.
a- 1/5
8. what is the slope of the line that passes through the pair of points (1,7) and (10,1)
a- 2/3
im lowkey tired asf its literally 4:50 am where i live in texas rn...so im going to sleep buuuut ill try to finish up with the answers tmrw/later today with a different post. hope this doesn't affect anyone until I'm back
