    1 2/3 + 1/6
lets work with the mixed number first.
1 2/3 is equal to 5/3.
now we have:
5/3 + 1/6
But their denominators arent the same!
so, you multiply by 2 so that the 5/3 fraction can become sixths.
so, 5x2/3x2
this becomes 10/6
so, now we have 2 frations with the same denominator, which means we can add them now.
10/6 + 1/6 = 11/6, which is 1 5/6.
