plane 1 travels 600 mph. plane 2 travels 800 mph and leaves 45 minutes later. when will plane 2 pass plane 1

Not sure what formula I use.

in 45 minutes, plane 1 has gone 450 miles.

Plane 2 goes 200 mi/hr faster, so it takes 450/200 = 2.25 hours to catch up.

Or, since distance = speed * time,

600(t+.75) = 800t
