Read the following example. What is the effect of the meter in these lines?

I wandered lonely as a Cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and Hills.
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden Daffodils;
Beside the Lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

A. It allows words to be repeated across lines of the poem.
B. It provides momentum throughout the poem.****
C. It helps to combine the lines of the poem.****
D. It provides additional meaning to the poem.

I think it is B and C...it flows nicely and makes the poem easy to read...help?

You have marked two of the answers with asterisks. Why?

Think about those again, and read those lines aloud. And read them aloud again if you need to. Poetry needs to be HEARD, not just read!

Then let us know what you think.

I marked two of them because I felt they were both worthy of the correct answer. I read the poem many times - I have - after reading it many more times I would say my answer is C because I feel like the poem flows nicely because of the meter/beat.

I really don't see the difference between B and C. To me, they mean the same thing! So go with C and let us know how it goes.
