A store owner would like to install a red illuminated sign. However, when she goes to purchase the sign, the list only includes the types of gases used, rather than the colors they produce.
Which gas (H, Kr, He, Ne, Xe, or Ar) would you suggest she buy?
In lay terms, explain to her what is occurring within the lamp.
I know red is the longest wavelength and carries the smallest amount of energy of any visible radiation and it glows for the eyes to see. But I don't think that has anything to do with what the questions are asking.

What you say is correct and has some to do with the question. I would google to see what color each gas emits in the visible spectrum.
