Question
Standing on top of a slope of 5 degrees, i see the top of a building and an angle of elevation of 35degrees15'. i am 160cm tall and it is 12m from the building base. How tall is the building?
Answers
assuming you measure the 12m along the ground, we have
the horizontal distance from the base of the building is 12cos5° = 11.95
So, from eye level, the vertical distance to the top of the building is 11.95tan35°15' = 8.45
Add to that the 1.6m of your height, and subtract the rise in the ground of 12sin5° = 1.05m, and the building's height is
8.45+1.60-1.05 = 9.00 m
the horizontal distance from the base of the building is 12cos5° = 11.95
So, from eye level, the vertical distance to the top of the building is 11.95tan35°15' = 8.45
Add to that the 1.6m of your height, and subtract the rise in the ground of 12sin5° = 1.05m, and the building's height is
8.45+1.60-1.05 = 9.00 m
Thank you!
