This is a mixture problem. It requires two equation to be solved simultaneously.
Let X = mass BaO
ad Y = mass CaO
----------------
equation 1 is X + Y = 10g
The second equation comes from the reaction with HCl.
2HCl + BaO ==> BaCl2 + H2O
2HCl + CaO ==> CaCl2 + H2O
You want to equation mols BaO and mols CaO to total mols of HCl reacted. mols HCl reacted = M x L = 2.5 x 0.1 = 0.25.
mols HCl reacting with BaO = X*2/molar mass BaO
mols HCl reacting with CaO = X*2/molar mass CaO
Total then is
(2X/molar mass BaO) + (2X/molar mass CaO) = 0.25 and that is the second equation.
Solve equation 1 and equation 2 simultaneously for X and Y.
Then %BaO = (mass BaO/mass sample)
%BaO = (X/10)*100 = ?
