My step-son went through a detox center twice, but he never became a "former drug abuser." Detox was where he was sent to get all the drugs out of his system, and then he went to a half-way house for several weeks to learn how to live drug-free. I think that would be called a therapeutic center. (Unfortunately, he could never kick his habit for much longer than about 4 weeks.)
