I think that she was brave because she stood up for her self and did not give in and let the nazis take her

Well, yes, she did stand up for herself, but it really wasn't up to her alone to prevent the Nazis from taking her. And they did take her, if you know the rest of the story AFTER the diary was written. I think Ms. Sue's answer is a good one.

She had no choice about whether the Nazis took her. However, she didn't give in to fear during her time in the Annex.
