what did you get when you tried it out?
Answered by Amy
I divided 4 into 260 and got 65 miles and then times it by 3.45 and got $224.25

okay let me explain ONE GALLON is $3.45. So first you have to see how much 4 gallons cost by multiplying 3.45 and 4 which gives you 13.8. Do u understand me?

Wow, Amy! Does it make sense to spend over two hundred dollars to drive 260 miles?

130 / 4 = 32.5 miles per gallon

Try the rest of the problem again.

You're on the wrong track, HI.

Answered by HI
and then you....here let me show you...

cost
-----
miles

set this up:

13.8 x
---- = ---
130 260

13.8 represents cost of 4 gallons, so you basically put the cost over ur miles. FIRST u cross multiply, so u multiply 13.8 * 260 and then 130*x
it will look like this:

3588= 130x

u divide 3588/130
when you divide you get the answer 27.6.

My answer is 27.6 :)

To Mrs. Sue
wait so my answer is not correct?
Answered by Ms. Sue
Trey's car gets 32.5 miles per gallon.

He drives 260 miles.

260 / 32.5 = 8 gallons

8 * $3.45 = $27.60 to drive 260 miles.

We got he same answer, HI, but in different ways.
